As you may know, all Roshambo sunglasses are polarized. Polarized lenses reduce glare and eye strain, while still delivering 100% UVA/B/C protection. All of our lenses are tested by our manufacturer and an independent lab to make sure they are compliant with all US, EU and other international UV standards to block 100% UVA/B/C rays.
Each batch of our polarized TAC lenses are also tested for effectiveness and were specifically chosen due to their lightweight design and high performance for all of your active families! So what does it all mean?
TAC Lens Technology
Tri Acetate Cellulose (TAC) polarized lenses feature a new lens technology formulated for superior visual and polarization clarity. They have a scratch coating and block 100% harmful UV rays up to 400 nanometers. These lenses are very lightweight and highly impact resistant.
Why is it important to protect your child's eyes?
We take kids eye protection seriously: as much as 50% of lifetime UV damage to your eyes occurs before the age of 10 and is irreversible - causing terrible long-term ailments! TAC polarized sunglasses for babies help shield your baby's eyes from the suns harmful UV rays.
FACT: The UV treatment applied to the lenses of our TAC sunglasses does not cause them to appear dark or tinted. The dark or gray colored tint is to provide comfort to the eyes when outdoors.
What are the benefits of polarized lenses?
UV 400 Protection - 100% UVA/B/C protection
Pediatric optometrists warn that most of the lifetime ultraviolet (UV) damage done to a person’s eyes occurs during childhood and the risk for retinal damage from the sun’s rays is greatest in children less than 10 years old. However, the consequences usually do not become apparent until well after they are adults. This is because eye damage due to UV exposure accumulates over a lifetime and the cells of the lens of the eye cannot repair themselves and are never naturally replaced.
Polarized - Reduce eye strain & glare
Light waves travel in different directions: vertical light helps us to see but horizontal light creates glare which restricts our vision. Glare is created when light rays bounce off a horizontal shiny surface such as water, sand, snow, or roads. Polarized lenses allow IN the vertical light providing us with clear vision but they also have a special filter to keep OUT and absorb the horizontal light caused by glare.
Durable - Multi layered for scratch & shatter resistance
Along with our unbreakable frame material, we chose a lens technology that is also virtually unbreakable and highly impact resistant. Have you seen our video where we run over our TAC polarized sunglasses with a car? If these shades can handle that, then they can handle your toddler and all of the wear and tear that comes with kids!
